具體目標

The purpose of this lesson is to develop students' skills to order food/ to take orders in a restaurant.

To familiarize students with basic vocabulary items, e.g. starter, main course, dessert, etc., for ordering food in a restaurant; the use of modal verbs, i.e., can and would like, to make requests and/or offers; and fillers, e.g., certainly, you’re welcome, the same to you, etc., through videos, games and role-play activities.

The teacher needs to design and photocopy four kinds of sheets: restaurant menus, the waiters' activity sheet, the customers' activity sheet, and the role-play prompts.

The students have to review the vocabulary and dialogues in Lesson One and Lesson Two.

【引起動機】

Show a video clip to the students and ask them some questions.

【發展活動】

1. Have a brief review of the vocabulary and dialogues that the students have learned in L1&2.

2. Divide the students into two teams to play a vocabulary game.

【綜合活動】

1. Divide the class into three groups: one third of the class will become restaurant waiters and the other two thirds will partner up and go around to the various restaurants and order food.

2. The waiters should receive their 'Special of the Day' prompt cards and their activity sheets. As customers visit their restaurants, waiters have to write down the orders on their activity sheets. Likewise, the customers write down what they have ordered on the customer activity sheets.
